At Culinary Table food is
prepared from scratch
All too often people don’t know where their food comes from and through
what processes it has been taken before it reaches their plates. Wehrner and
Janet Gutstadt have always had a passion for cooking and sharing the vision of
the farm-to-table revolution with South Africa. So together with their
daughter, Chef Daniela Gutstadt, in 2013 they founded Culinary Table.
Nestled on the edge of the Cradle of Humankind, in Lanseria, the restaurant proved to be an instant hit with local patrons who have come from far and wide through word of mouth to enjoy the unique, natural menu. Culinary Table proves that cooking with natural, locally source food from scratch is sustainable. The Culinary Table ethos is about serving real food that is prepared fresh and from scratch. That is why their menu consists entirely of seasonal, artisanally prepared food that they source directly from local small scale purveyors for maximum nutritional value and integrity.
Natural
fermentation bread is baked fresh every day and the fresh herbs and vegetables
not sourced from local farmers comes straight from the on site Culinary garden.

The slow
food and farm-to-fork turning towards real food that comes directly from
farms and vegetable gardens is the Culinary Table founding principle. They source as much as possible of our food
from local organic producers in the Lanseria, Muldersdrift and the Cradle of
Humankind as well as from their very own vegetable garden.
The
team and management read a lot, experiment in their demo kitchen, challenge their
assumptions and drive to discover new and innovative ways. Never complacent.
