At Culinary Table food is prepared from scratch

All too often people don’t know where their food comes from and through what processes it has been taken before it reaches their plates. Wehrner and Janet Gutstadt have always had a passion for cooking and sharing the vision of the farm-to-table revolution with South Africa. So together with their daughter, Chef Daniela Gutstadt, in 2013 they founded Culinary Table.




Nestled on the edge of the Cradle of Humankind, in Lanseria, the restaurant proved to be an instant hit with local patrons who have come from far and wide through word of mouth to enjoy the unique, natural menu. Culinary Table proves that cooking with natural, locally source food from scratch is sustainable. The Culinary Table ethos is about serving real food that is prepared fresh and from scratch. That is why their menu consists entirely of seasonal, artisanally prepared food that they source directly from local small scale purveyors for maximum nutritional value and integrity.

Natural fermentation bread is baked fresh every day and the fresh herbs and vegetables not sourced from local farmers comes straight from the on site Culinary garden. Specialty goods are imported from their rightful origin abroad.

The slow food and farm-to-fork turning towards real food that comes directly from farms and vegetable gardens is the Culinary Table founding principle.  They source as much as possible of our food from local organic producers in the Lanseria, Muldersdrift and the Cradle of Humankind as well as from their very own vegetable garden.

Importers and distributors of catering equipment and smalls from Europe with an emphasis on quality and heritage brands. This division incorporates a Trade Centre at the Lanseria showroom and warehouse.
Culinary Foods

Importers and distributors of quality semi-perishable foods such as bottled water, tomatoes, pasta, oils, cured meats and cheeses from Europe for delis, restaurants and end users.

The business includes two very well-known retail boutiques in Hyde Park and Stellenbosch.

Culinary Consulting is a specialist consulting and design firm within Culinary which offers turnkey kitchen design solutions to the Hotel, Restaurant and Catering industries.

Culinary Coffee Roasters

For the trade Culinary offer private label roasting with services in package design, and branding to bring your custom blend of espresso to life.  Their roastery produces coffee on-demand for their clients, packed and labeled according to their specifications. They pride themselves on sourcing and blending only superior grade coffee, and offering a seamless solution to the outsourced coffee roastery.

Faema Coffee Machines

In 1945 Carlo Ernesto Valente opened a coffee machine workshop in Milan which was to become the beginning of FAEMA, or "Fabbrica Apparechature Elettro Meccaniche e Affini" or "factory for the manufacture of electric appliances and accessories". 

Since that time FAEMA has continued to innovate, and many machines including the E91 design by Giugiaro and the Teorema have innovated and pushed the bounds of efficiency, green technology and design making FAEMA machines some of the most advanced and sought-after in the world today.

Le Panyol Wood Fire Ovens

Le Panyol's special Terre-Blanche White Clay is mined from the Larnage valley situated in rural Provence set among Tain l'Hermitage; France's famous wine region.

For centuries traditional bakers trusted the marvellous qualities of the Terre-Blanche to bring even heating and crispy crusts to their prized French country loaves and breads.  Today, Le Panyol ovens have become the benchmark for both bread and pizza ovens; benefiting still from the excellent heat retention and even distribution of heat provided by the Terre-Blanche.
