NATURAL WOOD CRAFTED TABLES

An iconic hotel reborn, the new Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, Johannesburg, is a stylish urban resort that reopened 1 December 2014 after being closed for refurbishment for one and a half years after a change in ownership.  Elevated on a hillside with panoramic views across the Johannesburg Zoo and the prestigious neighbourhoods of The Parks, The Westcliff Hotel is conveniently close to business, culture, shopping and leisure activities.
It will also be home to the Cellar Door wine tasting room which will be home to exceptional South African wines and a 20 seater hand crafted wooden tasting table made by Umdabu!  Pencil in your diary the anticipated opening date February 2015!

“Michael Ferreira (082 772 3593) and Robert Cunningham (082 850 6400) started out studying finance at university and then their eye for design got the better of them – in particular the potential for handcrafted furniture.  Local wood that has fallen on hard times, so to speak, gets a second life – lead wood, known as hardekool in South Africa – spends hours being worked into fine, original furniture that’s functional art.”

All slabs come from fallen trees, and they get roots from construction sites that are being cleared for development.  Their furniture is 100 percent handmade, one of a kind pieces that are suitable for a centre piece in homes or boardrooms.
