Parkhurst has a vibrant village atmosphere. One that
is casual and funky. Its pavement café culture is one that is popular with patrons
sitting at small tables chatting, eating, drinking and enjoying the highveld weather.
In 1903, Parkhurst was the most northerly section
of a Braamfontein farm. Registered in 1904, Parkhurst was Johannesburg's 67th
suburb. Although small, it’s densely populated with over 2 200 plots averaging
about 500sqm.

The gentrification or Chelsea cottage styled home process started in the 1960s when the older houses in the southern section started to be renovated. This process continues to this day with many properties being remodelled and renovated several times over.
Properties are much sought after both for their close location to the main business districts of Sandton and for the easy going lifestyle in suburbia. Parkhurst has a charm of its own and people really have made it home!
